Ebony & Ivory Presents A Violin Concert with Ania Safonova

Ania SafonovaWe’re delighted to announce that we’re holding a violin concert with Ania Safonova, Associate Concert Master with the Orchestra of the Royal Opera House. The performance will be on Sunday the 6th of November at 4.30 in the function room of Clery’s Clock Bar, 225-227 Edgware Road, Colindale, NW96LU.

This is a wonderful opportunity to see a great musician perform and will delight and inspire music students and enthusiasts alike.

About Ania Safonova

Russian violinist Ania Safonova is Associate Concert Master with the Orchestra of the Royal Opera House. She joined the Orchestra as Associate Concert Master in 2008.

Safonova was born in Siberia and started playing the violin at the age of five. She made her concert debut aged seven with the Omsk Philharmonic. She emigrated with her family to Israel in 1991 and continued her violin studies at the Tel Aviv Conservatory, later moving to London to study at the Purcell School and the Royal College of Music. She was Associate Leader of the Halle Orchestra 2001–06.

Safonova has performed at many international festivals and played as a guest leader with orchestras including the BBC Symphony Orchestra, BBC National Orchestra of Wales and Scottish Chamber Orchestra. She plays on a violin by Gennaro Gagliano, on loan to her from the Tompkins Tate Trust.

Ania will be performing the following pieces:

  • Violin Sonata no 2 in A minor, BWV 1003 by J. S. Bach
  • Recitativo und Scherzo-Caprice for solo violin, Op. 6 by F. Kreisler
  • Nel Cor Piu Non Mi Sento Op.38 by N. Paganini
  • Ferdinand the Bull, for speaker and violin by A. Ridout
