LEONARDO CAPRI

I’m a professional drummer and drum educator with 20 years of experience performing
and teaching across the UK and Italy. I’ve played everything from rock and progressive
rock to jazz fusion, musical theatre, and brass band, and I’m just as comfortable on
stage as I am in the studio.
Teaching is a huge passion of mine — Since a young age, I have loved helping others
develop their own sound and reach their goals, whether that’s exams or live
performance. Collaboration, creativity, and musical connection are at the heart of
everything I do.

MUSIC EXPERIENCE:

PROFESSIONAL DRUMMER & DRUM EDUCATOR

Music Education:
– Active Drum Educator since 2023, with over 60 students across multiple
locations. Experienced in teaching everyone from beginners to advanced
players, in group and one-to-one settings.
– Drum Assessor for final-year student assessments at London College of
Contemporary Music. (LCCM), December 2023.
– Skilled in curriculum design, lesson planning, exam preparation and Guaranteed
exam success rate. (Rockschool, Trinity, ABRSM).
– Received formal Teacher Training with Rockschool.io, focusing on modern
pedagogy and student engagement.
– Collaborative Drum Educator with the respected Gabor Dornyei (2023-2024),
teaching across multiple London sites (Northwood, Harrow, Pinner) to further
pedagogical and ensemble teaching.
– Adept at conducting engaging workshops and masterclasses.
– Experienced in student assessment, grading and mentoring, with collaborative
teaching alongside educators. (e.g. William Taylor, Gabor Dornyei).

Session & Live Performance:
– Awarded Best Instrumentalist and Battle of the Bands winner– West Herts
College, 2020.
– Currently recording an 80s Progressive Rock album set for release in 2026.
– Regular performer across Hertfordshire with multiple bands, covering genres
from Rock to Jazz Fusion. Strong abilities in sight-reading and rhythmic
transcription.
– Performed at Yamaha Music London (2024) alongside pianist Jack Elkin
debuting a unique genre concept in front of Yamaha Music Ambassadors.
– Main chair drummer for WHC Performing Arts musical theatre productions
(2017-2020), performing in multiple shows annually.
– Collaborated with the production team at WHC to record an end of year Project.
– Represented Watford as the main drummer in the National Brass Band
Championship of Great Britain (Royal Ascott Racecourse, 2017).
– Former drummer of the Marcellina Concert Band (Rome, 2008-2016),
performing nationwide across Italy, appearing on national television, and sharing
the stage with top Italian Musicians.
– Proficient in drum kit setup, tuning, maintenance and studio techniques.
Knowledgeable in DAW use for recording, production and practice.

PERSONAL NOTE:

I’m always excited to connect with new musicians, students, and take part in creative
projects. My goal is to keep growing as both a performer and educator, sharing my
passion for drumming and helping others discover theirs.
